    Ich wundere mich nur, dass ihn manchen nach dem scheinabr identischen Update drauf hatten und manche nicht. Daher meine meine Frage.

    Improved Performance of J2ME Applications on T610

    Sony Ericsson has improved the performance for Java on the T610 since the early software versions. If you have had problems to run demanding graphics applications on the T610 you should try the new SW version. It will enable more performance demanding applications to run on the updated phone.


    This performance enhancement will be rolled out in the new T610's sold in stores from the end of September 2003.


    To know if you as a Java developer have the new SW on your T610, perform the following key sequence on your phone:


    Move the joystick once to the right and then press *
    Move the joystick twice to the left and then press *
    Move the joystick once to the left and then press *


    In the menu that now appears, select "Service information" and then "SW information" (note that the menu names may differ in other languages). The information about which SW revision (R followed by a number) your handset has will now be displayed.


    If your SW revision says something on "R3B", it incorporates all the mentioned performance fixes and is also TCK-compliant. If your handset has a lower SW revision number on "R3A", you should contact your nearest Sony Ericsson service point and get your T610 updated with the latest SW. The nearest service point can be found in the documentation in the phone box or on the Sony Ericsson Global support web site. If you have borrowed or been given a handset through Sony Ericsson Developer Program or a local Ericsson Mobility World center with which Sony Ericsson collaborates, you should turn to that contact to get the handset updated.


    There is no easy way to detect directly from a Java application if you run on the new or old SW version. However, your download server can detect if the phone has the new or the old SW version by the User Agent field in the HTTP protocol during the download phase. The SW version in the user agent field for the new SW is: "SonyEricssonT610/R301 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0". If the "R301" is replaced by a lower value ("R201" for example) it is the old SW version, and if the if the "R301" is replaced by a higher value ("R401" for example) it is a newer version that includes the SW performance improvements.


    Sony Ericsson has also published a free online training document, showing how to optimize your J2ME applications for the Sony Ericsson T610 series of phones, including T610, T616 for the American market and T618 for the Chinese market. Fully compliable sample code is provided in order to test the examples in the J2ME emulator or by using your favorite J2ME IDE tool.


    Check out one of this month's code examples called Optimization of Speed and User Experience in Dancer, an example of a simple Java platform game that moves an animated image of a dancer around the screen.

    Genauso ging es mir auch, als ich das durchgelesen habe, aber da man ja schlecht per SW-Update die HW-Revision ändert, ist wohl eine neue SW-Version im Anmarsch....aber das gleich mit zwei Sprüngen von 1 auf 3?
    Ich frag am Dienstag einfach mal auf der IFA nach, da sollte es doch jemand wissen ;).
