"May 19, 2003 - Think Secret sources acquired a pre-release version of the iSync 1.1 update, providing the first details of the specific phones it will support.
The update will reportedly support three Symbian phones over Bluetooth -- the Sony Ericsson P800, Nokia 7650, and Nokia 3650 -- using, as one source said, some sort of PPP bridging for synchronization. Via OBEX, iSync 1.1 will add Bluetooth support for the Sony Ericsson T610/608 and the Siemens S55 phones.
Over USB cables, iSync 1.1 will support a number of Motorola GSM, CDMA, and TDMA phones, including the 120C, C330, C331, T720, V60i, and V66i. Others may also be supported in the final release.
Sources said that the update will still lack the SyncML support first promised at iSync's Macworld/New York 2002 introduction.
Additionally, the target release date for iSync 1.1, code-named Deckard, has shifted back a few weeks. Apple now expects to wrap up development early next month, alongside Bluetooth 1.2.1.
Think Secret first reported on iSync 1.1 earlier in the month, following up with an update last week. We also reported on a new "Safari bookmark sync" feature that will enable synching of Safari bookmarks between computers, as well as a new iSync 1.1 Palm Conduit. Additionally, we noted that over-the-air synchronization is being developed for a future iSync release, beyond Version 1.1.
Currently, iSync supports only a handful of phones: the Sony Ericsson T86i and four Ericsson phones."
