OTTAWA: CELL PHONE RECALLED
For the first time since the introduction of cell phones in Canada, a model has been withdrawn from the market because of excessive radio frequency (RF) emissions. LG Electronics has recalled as many as a quarter million of its LG 150 flip phones after it was decertified by Industry Canada. The Korean-based company is offering a free exchange for a different model until the end of March. There is no solid evidence that exposure to low levels of RF radiation is harmful, but Canada has set a tolerance level in line with the US standard - a level exceeded by tested samples of this particular model.
