As someone said on the other thread, first check that you havee data etc. enabled from your operator.
I have experienced this connection dropping immediately the phone connects, but it then asks again within a few seconds if you want to accept the connection - and after yessing to that the connection stays.
You can also try setting it up manually as another connection in Network Connections, I believe the cable driver comes on the N70 CD, but it can also be downloaded from Nokia website. Install it before you connect the phone and make a note of the COM port it selects. Then set up a new connection using the Network Connections 'Create New Connection' and choosing the Connect to the Internet & Set Up My Connection Manually options. The settings for my N70 are:
General : Connect Using: Modem - Nokia N70 Cable on COM22 (here you will choose the cable connection and COM port that the cable driver setup - Phone Number = *99# (don't use any area codes, don't tick 'Use Dialling Rules')
Dialling Options: First 2 boxes ticked, 3rd unticked, 4th ticked - the rest don't matter on that page
Security = Typical - nothng else ticked on that page
Networking: Type of Dial Up Server = PPP Windows 95/98NT4/2000.Internet. All the boxes under 'This connection Uses the following Items' are ticked. In Properties with the Internet Protocol highlighted 'Obtain IP address automatically' & 'Obtain DNS Server automatically' are ticked. Under Advanced General Tab 'Use Default Gsteway on Remote Network & PPP link 'Use Header Compression' are ticked. DNS: Top Box = empty, then 'Append Primary etc' is ticked and nothing else on that page. WINS: Top box empty then 'Enable LMHOSTS lookup is ticked, as is 'Enable NetBios over TCP/IP'
You can download the settings for the phone from Nokia.
Hope this helps
