Samsung unleashes PalmOS smartphone, the SPH-i500

Samsung recently launched a new high end model, the SPH-i500 PalmOS smart phone. Samsung previously showcased the SPH-i500 as a prototype unit at CommunicAsia 2002 in June. The clamshell phone runs on PalmOS 4.1 and comes with a 65,000 TFT display. A nifty design element is the Graffiti area above the numeric pad. Both the display and Graffiti areas are touch sensitive and the stylus is stored nicely at the bottom right of the handset. The SPH-i500 is powered by a 66MHz Motorola Dragonball processor. While originally slated for the US CDMA market, a Samsung spokesperson revealed that a GSM version is on its way to Asia. :top:

ermhh ... das ist aber das PalmOS-basierende Smartphone - eigentlich ging es doch um das MS Stinger-Smartphone oder??

Sendo hatte beispielsweise das Problem das sie MMS & Co. nicht so ohne weiteres einbauen konnten, von JAVA will ich garnicht erst reden - das Betriebssystem war nicht offen genug um solche systemnahen Sachen einzubauen (MMS-signalling over GPRS usw.)... Aber warten wir es ab - vielleicht kommt es ja doch nach Deutschland und Microsoft zeigt Einsicht ...

Bei Sendo wird JAVA nicht implementiert sondern wird in den zukünftigen Modellen auf Grund der neuen Softwareplatform (Symbian OS, Series 60 von Nokia lizensiert) bereits vorhanden sein...
Der O2 XDA basiert zwar auf einer Microsoft-Platform, jedoch nicht auf Stinger - da liegen (im Moment zumindest) noch Welten zwischen ...

Materna bastelt an nem MMS Clienten für Stinger und irgendwelche Tüftler werden sicher nen WAP 2.0 Browser programmieren. Ich glaube da gibt's keine Probleme!

Aber was is SoftGPS bzw. GPS One? :confused:
