New Navigator Makes Avoiding Wrong Turns Easier Than Ever
- Wayfinder’s flagship now on Java platform and loaded with more features
It has taken a mere 10 years for the Lund-based company, Wayfinder Systems to become a world leader in the navigation solutions arena. The company is launching a new and updated version of the prize winning Wayfinder Navigator. Software developers have made the new version more user-friendly and added features that undoubtedly make the product an excellent alternative within the market of specialized GPS navigation. In addition, launching on the Java Platform means that the new and improved updated version of Navigator is compatible with the majority of mobile phones on the market today - and tomorrow.
The Wayfinder Navigator package includes software and a matchbox size GPS receiver that receives signals from satellites orbiting around the earth and relays them to your mobile phone via Bluetooth. Your position is then indicated in a map on the phone’s screen. A real advantage is that the map in your phone is updated in real time and comes with the advantage of allowing you the possibility to re-route from traffic queues, road works and accidents.
"We have made a multiple prize-winning product even better. Launching on the Java platform means that we broaden our target audience, enabling more users to use Navigator. Smarter functions increase the products’ competitiveness. Not only with regard to other mobile phone applications but also as an alternative to those considering specialized navigation solutions", says Magnus Nilsson, CEO and Board member of Wayfinder Systems.
Easier installation and on more mobile phones
The new Java-based Navigator application is compatible with more mobile phones than ever before and will be compatible with even more in the future. Installation of the software has been simplified through a "WAP push". This means that the user simply sends and sms to a specific number and in return receives a message that they accept – the installation will then start automatically.
3 million Points of Interest
POIs (points of interest) have doubled from 1.5 million to 3 million. These points are places or matters of interest along your journey like restaurants, hotels, petrol stations, shops etc. When clicking on a point of interest, information regarding opening hours, phone numbers etc will appear, making it easy to call and make a restaurant reservation as an example.
